Self-Care Night In My Sleep, Hydration & Red Light Ritual
Phone on do-not-disturb, candle lit, red light on. My favorite way to reset on a Sunday night, plus easy sleep and hydration habits.
Some weeks just take it out of you. When that happens, I don't need a fancy spa day. I need one slow evening at home where nobody needs anything from me. This is my exact night-in ritual, plus the two boring-but-magic habits (sleep and water) that make my skin and my mood so much happier.
First, the unsexy basics
Sleep is skincare
I used to treat sleep like it was optional. Now it's my favorite beauty step. A few things that help me: keeping a similar bedtime most nights, dimming the lights an hour before bed, and putting my phone across the room (yes, really, buy a cute little alarm clock). Change your pillowcase often, too. Your face spends hours on it.
phone across the room = game changer
Hydration, inside and out
Keep a water bottle you actually like with you and refill it like it's your job. On the outside, layer a couple of light hydrating products instead of one heavy one, and keep a face mist nearby. I'm obsessed with the whamisa Damask Rose Petal Mist for little refresh moments during the day.
Rest is productive. Put that on a sticky note.
My red light night-in ritual
No. 01 Set the mood
Autumn Orchard Candle & Bath Bomb Set
from $34.99
Lights low, candle lit, playlist on. This set smells like a cozy October evening, and there's a hidden ring inside the candle and the bath bomb, so the whole night comes with a little surprise built in.
No. 02 Soak it out
$60.98
A coconut milk bath soak with salts and herbs, scented with lavender, rose and cardamom. Pour it in, sink down, and stay until your fingers get pruney. No tub? A long warm shower with the candle going still counts.
No. 03 Cleanse + mist
Gently cleanse, pat dry, and spritz on your rose mist. Red light goes on clean, dry skin, so save your heavier creams for later.
No. 04 Red light time
4-in-1 Red Light Therapy Wand & Activating Serum Kit
$189
The part I look forward to all week. I glide the 4-in-1 wand over my face for about three minutes. If you'd rather go hands-free, the Nicebeam LED Red Light Therapy Face Mask ($319) runs automatic 10-minute sessions and it's cordless, so you can lie back with a podcast. Many people love red light as a relaxing, me-time part of their routine. Always follow the instructions that come with your device.
eyes closed, deep breaths ✧
No. 05 Seal it in
Press in a few drops of the FRANKLY PDRN serum, then your moisturizer. For dry hands, elbows and heels, I love a thick layer of the Whipped Tallow Balm with Blue Tansy (from $35) before bed.
No. 06 Get cozy
Green Velvet Kashmiri Kimono Robe
from $190
Slip into something soft. This green velvet robe with gold tilla embroidery makes me feel like the main character in a period drama, which is exactly the energy a night in deserves.
No. 07 Lights out
Phone across the room, lights off, done. Bonus points if you jot down three things that went right today.
Make it your own
You don't need every product here to do this. A candle, a big glass of water, your favorite serum and an early bedtime is already a whole ritual. Try it once this week and notice how you feel the next morning. The point is to slow down and treat yourself like someone you love. ♡
